Membership Information
DUES
For the 2025 Membership Year (January – December), dues are $15/year. For prior years, dues are $10/year.
Several members have paid dues in advance for 2025 and beyond at the $10/yr. rate. We have elected not to retroactively adjust the dues for those members.
We begin to collect dues for the next calendar year in October of the preceding calendar year. For example, members will receive a dues statement in October 2024 for the 2025 dues calendar year.
We accept two forms of payment for dues, credit card and check. We prefer payments made online using our website.
- If you wish to pay by credit card, you will receive renewal reminders via email containing the instructions for renewing your membership for another year.
- To pay by check:
- Make your check out to “MHC”
- In the memo line on the check, write “Dues Payment”, the year for which you are paying and your User ID.
Your User ID can be found by clicking on your name at the top of the page, which takes you to your profile. - Mail the check and the renewal reminder e-mail to:

MEMBERSHIP STAGES
Our current membership structure supports several stages of membership:

Introductory – You may remember when you retired that there was a single page telling you about the CRA somewhere near the bottom of the stack. Now these recent retirees (and those that move to the Houston area) receive an email welcoming them as Current Year Free members of MHC with an Introductory status. Like all our members that we communicate via email, the Introductory members will receive all email communications including Zoom meeting announcements and quarterly Newsletters.
Introductory members will not be added to the Membership Directory or receive a Directory (usually in the April timeframe). When an Introductory member communicates any change of information or just verifies information in the content of our application form, they will then be removed from the Introductory status and be marked as a full time Current Year Free member, and their information will be added to the next year’s Directory.
- Current Year Free – We have a “Current Year Free” program for new members. It would be more accurately described as “The Remainder of the Current Year Free” (CYF). This is because our accounting system only recognizes dues status on a per year basis. For example, if you join the chapter in January you get credit for 12 months and if you join in July you get credit for six months. We begin to solicit dues for the following year in October so if you joined in July it feels like you only received 3 months free, however dues are not required to be paid before Jan 1 of each year.
- Regular – After the CYF period expires, the member is provided with the opportunity to formally join by paying his/her dues. When we receive those dues, we in turn send the new member a lapel pin signifying their membership in our chapter. We also provide a copy of the latest Membership Directory, subject to availability.
- Surviving Spouse – Should the member pass, his/her surviving spouse or domestic partner becomes eligible for all member benefits for the remainder of the dues period. The surviving spouse/domestic partner can then elect to remain a member by continuing to pay the annual dues.
